Aromatherapy Schools

Aromatherapy schools educate students in the use of pure essential oils for the enhancement of body, mind and spirit. Used with other natural healing arts' modalities such as massage and acupuncture, aromatherapy is known for its aromatic healing abilities. It is a natural way to enhance the body's own self-healing capabilities.

Aromatherapy uses essential oils, which are concentrated substances extracted from highly aromatic plant material then combined with alcohol, oil or lotion. Essential oils are inhaled, massaged into the skin, or poured into a soothing bath for a medicinal or calming effect.

Aromatherapy is used for a wide variety of therapeutic treatments including burns, infections, high blood pressure, depression, physical and mental conditions, and sleep deprivation. Aromatherapy schools educate students in the ways aromatherapy can be applied, including Olfactory (inhalation or diffusion), Massage (combines massage with aromatic oils) and Cosmetic (combines aromatic oils with natural skin and hair products).

There are hundreds of aromatherapy schools in the U.S. and Canada. Aromatherapy is also offered at many colleges and universities as an elective or continuing education class. Interested students may opt to take one or two classes, or go on to earn certification or even a diploma in aromatherapy. Keep in mind, however, that a certificate or degree from aromatherapy school is not a medical license, and aromatherapists are not qualified to practice medicine without a medical degree.

If a career in aromatherapy sounds like something you would like to investigate, register today for a class near you!
