Scrapbooking has become a popular hobby worldwide. Even my friends 65 year old father, Charlie, is into it. Charlie recently attended an eight week beginner scrapbooking evening class to learn the basics. When I visited my friend recently, Charlie showed me his scrapbooks and I was quite impressed. So if a 65 year old male can learn scrapbooking, anyone can! I asked Charlie what materials I would need to get started to make my own scrapbook. He said the basics I would need are: 1. Photographs 2. Acid free cardstock 3. Adhesive 4. A 12 inch paper trimmer 5. Gel pen for writing the names of the people in the photos 6. Album 7. Themed paper (optional) 8. Templates (optional) Charlie said he prefers to use two-sided clear adhesive dots. He uses a 12 inch trimmer because he thinks its easier to use than normal scissors. If you use this tool it will ensure you cut straight (unlike scissors). If youre just starting out to see if youre going to like scrapbooking before investing in all the tools and materials, Charlie says you dont have to worry about buying themed paper or templates or diecuts and cutouts. Later on, once youre hooked, like Charlie, you can buy all the materials your heart desires. |
