How to Have More Joy in Life!

Imagine being alive from the top of your head, down through the body and out the tips of your toes. Not just alive and surviving, but energized, excited and living the life of your dreams. Turning a so-so life into a passion filled, exciting adventure is possible. But theres a catch: It wont happen on its own. If we want excitement, the feelings of joy, inner peace and abundance, a necessary adjustment is going to be needed. We are going to have to learn to shift our focus from everything that is going wrong and place attention on the necessity of feeling good right now.

How do we begin this process of living a grand and glorious life? By spending time with our dreams and desires. They are the vehicles through which we allow our spirit and abundance to expand. Sometimes we pick up our dreams, play around with them for a while, and then put them away again. Yet each time we decide to take them out of storage is an amazing moment. We allow ourselves to consider, once again, giving ourselves what we most want. It doesnt matter if weve failed countless numbers of times in the past. What matters is the dream didnt get put away permanently. Our dreams and desires are important and we decide when we are ready and worthy of paying attention to them.

Dreams are about self-love and a decision to feel good from the inside out. They reaffirm the beauty and joy of living. Helen Keller wrote, "Be of good cheer. Do not think of todays failures, but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find joy in overcoming obstacles. Remember, no effort that we make to attain something beautiful is ever lost." Dreams provide a sense of purpose; a guiding direction; something to hold onto during life ups and down. Dreams give us the opportunity to feel good, now in this present moment. How? We are able to be a part of this great life as we envision delightful outcomes and breathe in the excitement of being so creative. We expect things to work. As we bask in the joy of the vision the doorway to our heart easily opens. It is through the heart that all things are created with spirit and joy.

Joy is Now, Not Later

Focusing on the manifestation of dreams is the most direct route to feeling joy. The feeling good we are looking for doesnt magically appear at the end of the goal. Joy is not a pot of gold waiting at the end of the goal rainbow. Joy is not waiting for us to earn it. Nor is joy concealed from us in some far away place untouched by pain. Joy is the delight we share with ourselves as we focus on joyful expectations. We are not swayed or distracted by the current scenery, but consumed with the joy in our confidence that we can, and will, create a better world for ourselves. Feeling good was never dependent on anything other than our decisions to allow it or not. Feeling good is about having a dream, not just having the outcome of a dream. Each day we make many decisions related to our desire. We choose to pay attention to what is most important to us, moving personal priorities to the top of our to-do list. Joy expands as we focus on what is meaningful. We stay on track by asking, "Is the energy I am bringing into the relationship of me and my dream allowing me to feel good? To feel powerful? Do the thoughts I am thinking take me closer to, or further from my dream?" If the answer is "closer to," then weve made a decision to allow ourselves to be successful and increase joy.

Being involved in the creation of our dreams isnt the same as achieving goals. All too often goals are pursued with pressure, frustration, anger, hatred and a sense of helplessness or hopelessness. Moving forward with dreams is the ability to hold an ethereal vision while adding the excitement of new possibilities into the mix. In a sense, dreams are how we dare ourselves to see if we could have something that does not yet currently exist. We feel good about ourselves, in this moment, simply because we are daring to both accept life as it is, and yet hold excitement that more is possible. In the process we master new skills and abilities which allow us to become more then we were before.

The success of our outcomes will perhaps be celebrated by the world, but that is not the soul reason behind our desires. The motivation is the process of self-discovery. Exactly what are we capable of? How much joy is possible? The answer wont be known until we take a risk. The fear is always that we will find out our original beliefs are real we are incapable of expanding, we will never be happier, we are as powerless or worthless as we believe ourselves to be. None-the-less, we set forth on the adventure of manifesting our desires to see for ourselves what is true and what is not true. Through this process we expand love and bring spirit into human form.

Permission to Feel Good

Dreams require decisions about giving ourselves joy, excitement and success. As odd as it may sound, giving ourselves permission to feel good is often a terrifying process. Often the lessons we learn have to do with "I exist, I can have what I want, I am supported, Im just as good as, and its important for me to feel good." As we set out to achieve a dream we sometimes need to be quite clear with ourselves. We decide we will achieve this dream because we want to, not because there is any guarantee of success or reward. This is our work and we will perform it without drama or hysterics. In fact, we will make a determined effort to feel good as often as possible, even though the dream is not yet reality.

We teach ourselves, through the daily manifestation of our desires and dreams, how to gain mastery over our ability to be empowered, to live happy lives and to have what we want. Mastery doesnt generally come easily for most folks. There are going to be mountains to climb in the attainment of any dream. Work and effort will be required. We come to understand that we dream great dreams because that is who we are. We experiment and imagine great dreams not to become better than others, but to become who we are meant to be. Achievement is not to gain approval from others, but because we were born to journey.

Certainly some of us have a harder time of achieving dreams then others. Some encounter greater obstacles or more hardships on physical, emotional or spiritual levels. It is not fair, but it is what it is. History provides many instances of brilliant people who had to work very hard. Thomas Edison claimed, "There is no substitute for hard work. Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration." Dreams teach us we are more capable than we believed ourselves to be. We learn to deal with obstacles through persistence, determination and loving self-leadership. We learn how to sit back when the going gets rough, refocus on the original dream, and feed ourselves new energies of excitement so we can keep going.

Excitement contains the energy to continually explore and search and grow and evolve. Excitement is a blessing of magnificent strength. It is charged with determination. It is the fuel which can lead us to the ecstasy of creating our truest, most joyful self. It is the energy that drives destiny. Embrace excitement, integrate its power, magnify this force and connect it with the deepest desires. Desires not connected to excitement will seem a curse. Instead of leading us out of conformity, a desire with no link to excitement continues to imprison us inside the rigid structure which allows no mistakes or failures, no expansion, and no increase in power or love.

Recognize no one is forced to achieve a dream. We ourselves have chosen a particular desire because we wanted to discover if a new potential outcome was possible. As we journey through the creative process, there are going to be great inspirational days, and there are going to be the days that are gray, cold, and harsh. Its up to us to cultivate inner strength, determination and love through all these experiences. Throughout it all we have a choice: Do we face our particular dream with love and excitement or do we fuel the dream with stress, anger and hatred? Joy is strengthened as we hold onto our dream and consciously choose to fuel our dream with necessary excitement no matter what the external circumstances.
