No Cell Phones and No Internet; What Would We Do Without Them?

Many people are concerned about the speed that new technology is brining us these days. Yet these same people cannot imagine life without a cell phone or without the Internet. But I can. Not because I am an old man, but because I started my business much earlier than most. When I started my business there was no Internet only ARPANET and bell labs and Xerox PARC were just getting going and you could not use it. Even if you could, chances are no one you knew had use of it and therefore no one to talk to. You could not email your friends or anything like that.

There were no cell phones back then either; well some very wealthy people have phones but those were due to Craig McCaw with the Iridium Satellite phones and that was it. Some companies and government agencies had repeater phones, but they were quite expensive to use and only available in some places.

It seems that the technology has moved the human race forward in a positive way. Microsoft and others have paved the road ahead and due to that, people can now communicate easier and faster all over the World and this has led to collaboration and bringing the world together and thus research is moving very fast and is solving all sorts of mankind's problems. So if finding cures for Cancer, Malaria and Alzheimer Disease is a consequence of technology then "when can I have more?"

Who knows what we will have available to us in the future, some of us might guess? But we cannot say for sure. But whatever it is I bet we say later, we do not know how we ever got along without it. Think on this in 2006.
