There will come a time in your life when you mother tells you to hurry up and get married because she wants grandchildren. You may not be anywhere near ready to get married or to have children, but you will likely start feeling the pressure after your dear mother lays something like that on you. Instead of giving in right away and starting to stress out over the whole thing, sit back and think it through. Sure your mother raised you and you do owe her a certain amount of respect. However, when you became an adult, you began living not for your mother, but for yourself. When you get married, you will start living for your family. So, while you may still want to please your mother, you must think about yourself before anything else in this case. Your mother may be wanting grandchildren because she misses you being home. Often times, mothers will ask these things of their children because they want a little one to hold. Some say being a grandparent is much more fun than being a parent, and it is likely she wants to try it out. She may be getting older and may fear she will pass away before you have children. However, when the day is done, you are the one that has to live with your choices. So stick with your gut and do what you think is right for your life. |
